Truework verifies that someone actually works where they say they work and earns what they say they earn, pulling from payroll and HR systems directly instead of relying on a pay stub PDF someone could have edited in ten minutes. It started as a lender-facing tool (mortgage and credit underwriting lean on this constantly) but the same verification is useful anywhere fake pay stubs or inflated income claims could slip payroll fraud past you, contractor onboarding, loan or advance requests from employees, that kind of thing.
Pricing is transparent in a category where that's rare: a standalone employment report runs $54.95, income-plus-employment is $59.95, and re-verification is $19.95, all pay-as-you-go with no account minimum. There's also a subscription platform plan and an enterprise tier with volume discounts up to 30% off per verification.
The API is genuinely developer-friendly if you want to build verification into an internal workflow rather than using the web dashboard, and unlike a lot of tools in this list, you can actually see the price before you talk to sales.

Features
- Direct-source income and employment verification
- Public API for embedding verification into internal tools
- Re-verification for ongoing/periodic checks
- Coverage across a large network of payroll providers and employers
- Consumer-permissioned data access (candidate/employee consent flow built in)
- Rare in this space for actually publishing its prices
- Pulls from source systems, much harder to fake than a document upload
- Solid developer API if you want it embedded rather than used as a standalone tool
- Per-check pricing adds up fast if you're verifying at real volume without moving to enterprise
- Coverage depends on the employer/payroll provider being in Truework's network, gaps exist for smaller or unusual employers
- Built primarily around US employment, thinner outside it
Businesses that need to verify a new hire's or contractor's actual income and employment history without trusting uploaded documents.
Teams needing employment verification outside the US, or ultra-high-volume checking where per-check costs won't pencil out.
